97.9 The Bruce, a division of Bayshore Broadcasting, along with the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, are pleased to announce the record breaking results from the 6th Annual Light the Way Radiothon.
The Foundation in partnership with 97.9The Bruce held their annual 12 hour radiothon yesterday. The goal for the day was to try and hit $200,000 to go towards the $3 million CT scanner campaign “Bring Tom to Town”.
This year, with the support and generosity of listeners along with area residents the Light the Way Radiothon raised a record breaking $251,550 dollars in 12 hours!!
Executive Director of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, Tracy Murray stated “The Foundation and its Board Members are completely thrilled by the final numbers of this year’s radiothon but aren’t surprised by the outpouring of support since the people, businesses, sports clubs and even the kids of Saugeen Shores and the surrounding communities have been overwhelmingly supportive of the Foundation and this year was no exception. People really have connected with the Bring Tom to Town campaign and realize the importance and vital need of bringing a Computed TOMography (CT) scanner to Bruce County”, said Tracy Murray, Executive Director of the Hospital Foundation. Yesterday’s event brings the Bring Tom To Town CT fundraising total to just over $1 million toward the $3 million campaign that launched in late October.
“The Foundation is grateful once again to have 97.9 The Bruce partnering with us for this event. The Radiothon wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for the support of Bayshore Broadcasting. Bruce Telecom is also a key partner for this event, supplying and setting up the phone lines to allow people to call in during the Radiothon said Stacey Catalano, Board Chair of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The Foundation would also like to thank our honorary Chairs of the CT Scanner fundraising campaign, Jenny and James Scongack for their support throughout Light the Way.
The biggest thank you goes out to every person and business that called in or dropped by the station to donate at yesterday’s event and making it such an amazing success and so much fun.
Light the Way runs until the end of December and is the Foundation’s biggest annual fundraiser. We urge the residents and businesses who haven’t yet donated to please return their Light the Way donation form they received in the mail or donate online at www.bringtomtotown.com or call 226-930-1114.
